This is a super-focused camp just for jazz pianists. The “spontaneous duets” sessions with George Russell Jr. were quite memorable. The cabin experience is one I will always remember.
I got to watch and learn directly from renowned musicians such as Dayna Stephens, George Cables, Taylor Eigsti, and Ben Wendel.
For a week, you spend all day getting personal instruction and learning from world-class faculty, and then you get the chance to hang out with those same instructors well into the night! That’s what separates this camp from others.
This was my first boarding camp. It’s an intensive camp, and I was re-invigorated after attending. I still regret not being able test my ultimate frisbee skills against Prof. Landry because it was 100+ degrees every day of the week!
