Beyond simply organizing student music groups, CCJA does so much more to promote jazz, including outreach programs to local area schools, programs to encourage girls to participate in jazz, public performances, jam sessions, workshops, mentoring, and summer camps. I’ve been a member of CCJA since middle school and it has been invaluable in my musical development. I’m excited to have been selected as a Youth Student Board Member for the coming year!
Call it an “intimate jazz room” but it’s so much more. Not only do they have major acts come through but they hold Student Spotlights and sponsor jam sessions on the last Monday of every month, which I’ve been to many times. There’s a deep connection with the community here. Clare Church and Pete Lewis do an awesome job!
This is a famous jazz club in Denver. I saw the Bill Charlap Trio here, and I’ve also had the chance to perform here on several occasions.
Denver-area public radio station that plays jazz, Latin jazz, blues and other music that you won’t hear anywhere else. They frequently have college and high school bands in their studio to play live on-air. I had the chance to perform here live with the CCJA Jazz Arts Messengers for Colorado Gives Day as well as for CCJA’s 25th Anniversary Celebration.
